Revision shutter drive Cinemeccanica V5

The Cinemeccanica V5 has shutter which is driven by a gear transmission. This grease-filled, cast aluminum cabinet contains two shafts which are equipped with plastic gears. This somewhat fragile construction usually begins after about 20,000 hours to produce noise.

Normally this can not hurt but if by excessive wear, one of the gears fails, the result is total failure. In order to avoid a hazard it is recommended to replace to complete unit in time. A worn unit can be repaired. The illustrations shows how such a revision takes place.
